For over a year now I have been surveying Willow Tits in the county. A substantial population exists in an area bounded roughly by Bronant/Cors Caron/Llangybi/Cross Inn Forest. However, The "Birds of Ceredigion" suggests that they have always been fewer in number south and west of a line running between Lampeter and Aberaeron. I've spent a couple of mornings this week searching between Gorsgoch/Cribyn/Llanwnen/Cwrtnewydd to no avail, though I have recorded Willow Tits here a couple of times many years ago. In fact, I currently have a huge gap between sightings at Rhos Pilbach NR (Plwmp) and Falcondale (Lampeter). If anybody has any fairly recent sightings between these two widely separated locations I would be very grateful to receive them. Either pop them on the blog, preferably with a grid reference, or send them via Harry. Thank you.
So, no Willow Tits. However, I had 2 Little Grebes on a pool near Cribyn and another on the pool on Gorsgoch common. Also, just outside Gorsgoch, 2 Grasshopper Warblers were reeling in unison.
