I was at Pencaeau Farm yesterday, albeit very briefly, but I never thought to look for a Chough! However, I do remember many years ago, on a stormy August day, flushing a Green Sandpiper from a slurry pool just before I drove into the yard. So, a bit of a birding hot spot. Other work sightings yesterday; a large group of about 40 Kites in the centre of Rhydlewis, emerging from a roost or being fed perhaps. Not sure. Further up the hill, before my first call in Brynhoffnant, I noticed the large flock of Golden Plovers. Later, in the lane behind the petrol station, I flushed a Woodcock. At dusk, whilst emptying the box in Bwlch y Fadfa, I saw a Peregrine fly over the church, trailing Starlings back to the huge roost near Talgarreg presumably.
