New Quay; possible Slavonian Grebe

Whilst I was in New Quay this afternoon I saw an interesting looking bird. I was emptying the PO and loading the van, so no bins and in a rush. Light was good, sea calm and the bird was very close to the little beach below me. Just 10m out. It was very small and spent 95% of the time under water, presumably in very shallow water. It looked like a small Grebe to me. The only plumage I could pick up was when it faced away and dived and then the very white vent and belly contrasted with dark uppers. Might be worth looking for tomorrow if someone is in the village.
