Llansantffraed

Started this morning with a brief stop at Tygwyn pools. Glad to see the drake Shoveler was still there and another beautiful close male Wheatear. Then on to Llansanffraid beach. The first birds there were a pair of Teal on the edge of the sea and a Grey Plover, and a few Gannets far out. Walked northwards to the tip of the headland on the beach and saw only Oystercatchers, and then along the top field past the Sand Martins to the Lime Kilns and just before getting there twelve Whimbrel dropped onto the rocky shoreline. Lots of Song Thrushes at the Kilns and a few Chiffchaffs and I could see two more Wheatears on the fences towards the flooded field area near Llanrhystud car park. Then back to the car with Linnets and Skylarks for company.
