Long Wood

At Llanrhystud this morning I saw 11 White Wagtail and 3 Pied, 2 Wheatears, a Mipit, and a song-flighting Whitethroat at the lime kilns. 9 Whimbrels, 5 Barwits, and some very photogenic Dunlin and Ringed Plover on the beach. On the sea a Med Gull and a Red- throated Diver.

Then on to Long Wood (very end of the driveable road from the visitor centre) where as the car window was closing I heard a close Tree Pipit which was singing in one of two dead trees just by the car. Then a walk down the track where the best of the birds were a singing Pied Flycatcher and right at the end of the track my first singing Wood Warbler of the year.
