Hoping to see Wood Warbler this morning. Usually 6-10 present but last year just the one. Some coniferous habitat near the car park which used to hold birds has been cleared in recent years. However, other mature conifers and beech plantations in the centre which always held birds were quiet again. Happily, when I got to the final section (Coed Olwen, at the Lampeter end) 3 males were singing in unison at very close proximity to one another. A fourth was close to where the forest track meets the old ridgeway track, despite considerable clearance thereabouts. Other birds; 3 Tree Pipits, 5 Pied Flycatchers, 19 Willow Warblers, 22 Blackcaps, 35 Chiffchaffs and 3 Garden Warblers. A Roe Deer was near Hobbs Garden, where also the wooden theatre was rotting and returning from whence it came. I once saw a production of Shakespeare there.
