Hen Harrier at Cors Caron

Not wanting to be anywhere on the coast on August B H Monday Paul Bennett and I also went to Cors Caron.  Couldn't compete with Ian's birds at Pont Einon, let alone Arfon's Marsh H.  All I had was 10 Mute Swans and a few Swallows.

Things improved though, with a Tufted Duck and five Coots on Maesllyn, then as we were scanning the bog to the north of the lake Paul picked up a ringtail Hen Harrier.  I managed to scope it before it disappeared.  Red and Peggy Liford then happened along and Red mentioned they had passed a large gull  which looked like a Yellow-legged. Paul and I saw it briefly on the way back but as we were looking for a gap in the hedge for a better view it must have flown off.

The circular boardwalk to finish. At least 30 Chaffinches in the ploughed field by the car park, then Paul heard a reeling Grasshopper Warbler.. A Kestrel and a flock of ca 40 Lapwings from the hide, and as we were walking back the Lapwings were flying around the south end and a Green Sandpiper flew up the bog.
