Aberaeron coast

Evening to dark; Thurs

Med Gull 281 counted (most offshore resting on sea from 1925. Other smaller flocks loafing on shore along coast north.)

Common Gull 5 Great Black-backed Gull 1.
Sandwich Tern  adult & juvenile on shore. Eventually flew off , with purpose, at dusk in Lleyn direction.
Curlew 5. Oystercatcher 24.
After dark a flock of Turnstone were heard (perhaps the 10 we've recently encountered) and also 1 Common Sandpiper.

Late posting Dihewyd area: Redstart around garden 31.8 & a male Sparrowhawk (1st seen here. Maybe the Goshawks scare them away!)
Tawny Owls and Red Kite very active visible & vocal at the moment. The Red Kites loving the silage cutting.

(1.9 driving back along road from Llanarth to Mydroilyn, brilliant but brief views of a Polecat along the road edge in full beams. Unfazed, it moved into the long grass below a hedge bank and vanished. The only previous one we'd seen was a roadkill in late April, on road from Ystrad Aeron to Lampeter.)
