We saw "the" pintail at Nanteos yesterday morning, and I would have said that it is an eclipse male. (I also saw it in the harbour on Saturday, but less well). So quite possibly the same one John photographed.
(There was still a male gadwall -- we couldn't see a female; there was a
male there a few weeks ago too, surprising given how little water there is --
and Green Sand at Nanteos too.)
