Saturday 11th
The gadwall was still present at Nanteos with plenty of mallards and moorhens. A single little grebe and a single green sandpiper were welcomed additions. A very high tide at Ynyslas pushed the Sandwich terms up onto the posts and small bank of stones at the top of the beach where they were joined by a good mixed flock of dunlin and ringed plover. At Ynys Hir a single spotted redshank and 3 black tailed Godwit were the stars from the Saltings hide with the usual little egrets, teal, Canada geese and mallards. A decent, flock of barnacle geese were on the grass fields to the right.
Sunday 12th
Llanrhystud was very quiet with virtually nothing on the beach or on the
field behind which is holding no water at all at present. Llansantffraed gave
several sandwich terns, ringed plover, turnstones, a variety of the usual gulls,
3 widgeon on the sea, Canada geese, cormorants, good numbers of oystercatcher,
curlew and 2 each of whimbrel and heron.
Aberaeron north beach also had sandwich terms and plenty of
turnstone.
