Near Tregaron

Went for a walk this morning through receding flood waters beside the Teifi and flushed a total of 58 Snipe. I've no doubt that more lay ahead but the water was starting to lap at the tops of my wellies so I turned back. I'd scarcely walked a dozen paces through a patch that I'd surely just crossed when a cracking Jack Snipe went up from under my feet and down silently about 20m away. At such close range the very brief impression I had was of the beautiful, bright colours. Later, from the Cors Caron boardwalk, females of Hen Harrier, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Felt elated. Stuck The Clash into the car CD player and cranked up the volume. Forgot to call in at Pant pool on the way home.
