Quite a display yesterday evening over the pier and university building.
(Estimated
over 8,000, but still doing a methodical section count from photos of the
flock.)
Peregrine
came in from the town direction, at great speed, and made two attempts at
snatching a Starling supper.
Unsuccessful,
it was brutally escorted off the premises by Herring Gulls. Its cover well and
truly blown.
Soon after
the Starling murmuration spilled, in sections, down to roost under
the pier.
Heavy Redwing
passage after dark, all south-west, and some spectacular wave
action.
