Before the drizzle

Popped over to Llanrhystud earlier. Mostly, the expected birds in the usual numbers, inc 300 Golden Plovers, 90 Curlews and the leucistic Oystercatcher. As has happened to me before, the best bird flew by as I was crawling out of the car upon arrival (R-B Merganser). A Med Gull was among the mixed gull flock.

Had a scary 5 seconds yesterday at work as I was driving down a lane. A large looking bird (Woodcock?) exploded out right in front of me and then disappeared from view and seemed certain to have become an unwanted appendage to the radiator grill of van 26. Then it bobbed up in front of the windscreen and swept away to the right and was in fact a Sparrowhawk.
