I've made a few visits to Cwm Doethie these last few weeks as part of a little survey that I'm doing and which I hope to finish off next year. In order to make it as thorough as I can I've been scrambling around in the tributaries than run down into the main valley, with variable degrees of success. Conditions were rather misty this morning but this seemed to please the Grasshopper Warblers along Doethie Fawr, where I heard four reeling males. I had a prolonged, cracking view of a singing bird on a lichen covered fence post just where I'd parked my car, where the tarmac ends.
