Urgent: our AONB petition is due to be debated soon
Dear member,
We have just received notification from the Senedd Petitions Committee that
a debate on our AONB petition is imminent. In answer to a query from Lorna they
have replied:
'We understand that your petition is provisionally scheduled to be debated in Plenary on Wednesday 30 November 2022. The agenda for the Plenary meeting in which your petition will be debated should be published on this page near the end of the week: https://business.senedd.wales/ieListMeetings.aspx?CommitteeId=700.
We will notify all who signed the petition of the debate date once the agenda has been published and confirmed.'
This is certainly an earlier date than we anticipated, and does not give us
a lot of time to prepare. We ask all members to contact their MS to ask them to
support the petition in the debate. We have been advised that the best form of
contact is to attend an MS's constituency surgery and speak to them in person.
Please do this if you possibly can, but if this is not feasible then please
email them.
As a reminder, our arguments for designation of the Cambrian Mountains as
an AONB are set out on our website:
Please help us to maximise the impact of the debate by contacting your MS
as soon as possible. We are aware that contact with some constituency MS's has
not always been productive in the past, but we urge you to try anyway. In
addition an approach to the Mid and West Wales regional MS's may prove useful
(for Mid and West Wales, the latter are Joyce Watson and Eluned Morgan (Lab),
Cefin Campbell (Plaid Cymru) and Jane Dodds (Lib Dem)). The most important point
we can get across is that AONB designation is important to all of us
personally.
