Llanrhystud beach

Redwing in the coastal fields this morning could only mean one thing - snow inland! There were a dozen or so feeding with several song thrush near the large agricultural shed. Also a snipe in a small patch of water next to the shed (incidentally, a planning application has been submitted by the owner to turn this into holiday accommodation).

There were plenty of other birds around the (snow-free) fields too, including 500+ Golden Plover, 40+ lapwing, and a distant flock of curlew. There was also a mixed flock of mippits, skylark and chaffinch in the beet field. Other birds included two stonechat, a buzzard and a couple of red kites.
There was a great-crested grebe on the sea, and 2 Little Egrets, 4 heron and a few redshank on the shore beyond the lime kilns.
A very enjoyable morning!

In addition to Aline's Redwing sighting, I also had my first one through my window this afternoon.  A sure sign of hard weather.
