Yesterday morning there were approximately 25 sandwich terns on the furthermost rocks at Castle Point until the tide moved them on. A few swallows headed north over the sea. 2 common scoters headed south. There were 2 or 3 gannets in the bay. A grey heron forced off college rocks by the tide was hassled away over Castle Point by 4 herring gulls. My attention was drawn further out to sea by a flock of 20 or so gulls in the air with a pale phase Arctic skua in close attendance which then headed south.
Went along the Pen Dinas side of Tanybwlch in the afternoon - heard and/or saw the
expected birds including 2 choughs. Best was a common sandpiper on the Ystwyth.
