That's enough history from me, here is what is happening now on our local cliffs: Oystercatchers, we have 4 pairs breeding with two pairs having failed already and two with one chick each.
These birds nest on the cliff and the young jump down 5 to 10 metres onto the rocks and are fed by their parents for at least 6 perilous weeks: SUP's, canoes, Crows, GBB's, Ravens, otters and other land predators, storms and Spring Tides all take their toll. In 2021 1 from 6 chicks survived, 2022 no chicks survived.
Other birds of interest nesting or appearing to nest are: Chough, Lesser Black Backs, Cormorant, Shag, Herring Gulls,and Rock Pipits.
On the sea are a few Auks, not seeing Gannets in the calm weather and waiting to hear what is happening on Grassholm this year.
