Aberporth Oystercatchers

Two pairs of Oystercatchers with 2 fledged and flying young along the cliffs between Aberporth and Tresaith this week plus 2 successful pairs of Chough nesting for the first time with 3 maybe 4 young between them.

The effort put in by the Oy parents paid off this year, the weather was good with enough wind to keep paddle boarders and other small craft off the waters and away from exploring coves although Silke did have to loudly advise one amorous couple that the constant shrill piping was the Oys alarming!

Spring tide in June was perilous as the tiny chicks had difficulty climbing higher and the water was lapping their feet, plus there was the constant threat from a pair of Greater Black Backs and passing crows.

Two other pairs did not succeed.
