Sunday.
Off the brick house this morning very few birds and again, hardly any gannets. At Ynyslas, following the post of a super adult summer plumaged American golden plover near the Leri I hot-footed it down and unsurprisingly dipped. Two knot in full summer plumage and six turnstone were nice to see but it seems that the breeding season in the high Arctic has been dismal, so not a good sign so early in the year.
Following reports of mass chick fatalities at many colonies
it was nice to see three black-headed gull youngsters at the tern posts.
Difficult and sad times.
