Ynyslas terns and Leach's

An astonishing mornings bird watching started by the tern posts with a juv knot, a turnstone and around 60 each of ringed plover and dunlin. As the tide rose 3 little tern, a roseate tern (adult with distinctive chewit call), 80 sandwich terns, 20 common terns and a dozen arctic terns flew in before flying further up the estuary. I was joined by Martin Creasser who picked up the little terns quickly.

I then went to the brick house and was surprised to see a Leach's petrel. I quickly phoned Martin who joined me and within 15 minutes the petrel was joined by another, then another until six were present. Four black terns flew south (3 pristine summer plumaged and a juv) and another flew south 15 minutes later.
