First thing this morning, during a dry spell, there quite large numbers of Swallows plus a few House Martins on the move through Brynhoffnant/Sarnau. Also, on a track between these two villages, I had to follow a Red-legged Partridge in the van for quite some distance as it waddled along casually in front of me. Later in the morning an intense hour long deluge set in, and it was during this, while delivering in Glynarthen, that I flushed a juvenile Heron that was standing in a lane. Since it was still so young, I had the feeling that it was uncertain whether it was standing in a river or a road.
