Amazing few minutes at Ynyslas this morning. I was counting Sandwich Terns at the point when a large flock of Egrets landed behind them. Being a large, flock thought I'd check to see if any had a yellow bill only to find they all had yellow bills! Cripes! (not the word I used)
Grabbed the camera for a few record shots then a mad dash to get the phone out to get some video thinking nobody will believe this. A quick 30 second burst for evidence.
Now count them, off with phone and a quick count from right to left - 28 birds probably missed some.
Now get more and better vid, phone back on only to see lots of wings and realise they were flying. Managed some more camera shots as they flew off upriver.
Other birds: 675 Ringed Plover, 530 Dunlin, 53 Knot, 38 Sanderling, 8 Golden Plover, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, 8 Turnstones, 427 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns, 1 Peregrine, several hundred other Gulls mostly Herring, black-backed and Black-headed but some Meds and Commons also.
