Called in on my way home from Cors Caron. Forestry work still being undertaken. The heronry, (15-20 nests usually I think), which had been in an area of Larch trees, was gone. I believe the felling has finished and two men were clearing up and a large lorry arrived to take away the logs. A tiny clump of Hemlock remains on the brow of the hill and I was told that about 30 Herons are still around perhaps attempting to continue using the site. They suggested coming back at dusk after they finish work as being a good time to attempt to count the birds returning to roost. I'll try and remember to do so.
