Across the border

Visited Dolydd Hafren today(on the Severn flood plain near Montgomery) and was delighted to see little ringed plover displaying against a supporting cast of 50+ sand martins, goosander, shelduck, curlew, snipe, reed warbs, common sands etc. Just missed a great white egret but would rather watch lrp's any day. Lesser whitethroat also present.
On Cors Caron there are 50 black headed gulls, 3 pairs trying to settle on the big pond inside the boardwalk between visits from the dog-walkers. Last year one pair raised a chick (later predated)having defended their nest by dive bombing an otter!
