I noticed a few Wheatears on Borth golf course yesterday. Having noted Ian Morris' comments about the lack of these birds in the Teifi Pools area I made an effort to look out and listen for them on my usual April circular Teifi Pools walk, starting up the valley from Strata Florida. During the three and a half hours when I was in suitable habitat I saw 27 Wheatears, including 4 females. There were some stretches of the walk where these birds did seem a bit scarce but overall I thought that was an encouraging count. One Common Sandpiper had arrived at the lakes.
Interesting and pertinent comment from Gareth Rees about bird sightings from Cors Caron. Indeed, we get few records from another important CCW reserve, Cors Fochno/Borth Bog except mainly from a small number of regular visitors (two of whom come from the Midlands!).
