Warblers, Flycatchers and a Swift

Bob, Harry and I had a productive session with warblers at Pen Dinas this morning with good views of the numerous Whitethroats, Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs, plus Blackcap and Garden Warbler. A reeling Grasshopper Warbler did not want to be seen but a pair of Kestrels were very active overhead. The monument tower looks just right for them. There was also a good variety of butterflies.
Inland, up the valley from Strata Florida we enjoyed a veritable abundance of singing and calling male Pied Flycatchers. On the journey home we watched a Swift flying about over Pontrhydfendigaid.
