A belated Happy Christmas to all.
It was good to see 12 house sparrows on a tree in the garden on the 23rd. We are getting up to three jays visiting. We had our meal on Christmas Eve which allowed me time to go down Cwmrheidol Christmas Day afternoon and observe leucistic buzzard ("Whitehead"), the female ring necked duck , 4 tufted ducks, 2 male goldeneyes, 1 female and 2 male goosanders and redwings.
Today, down the Clettwr where we saw 2 dippers (one at least with ring), kingfisher, peregrine and glimpse of male hen harrier. Walking back weighed down by turkey sandwiches and Dundee cake (won by guessing weight of 5lbs 2oz in the Abermad fete). Flock of golden plover on the way back at Ynyslas Turn.
I see the BirdWatcher's Yearbook 2010 says that fewer people are contributing their little bits and pieces to the world-wide web. It quotes an American satarist 'Life is like a sewer. What you get out of it depends what you put in'.
