RING-NECKED DUCK

On my return from a snow-bound north-east Essex and having had to leave my car a mile from home, I subsequently noticed that the lakes here at Trisant were completely frozen over. Chris Bird suggested I visit Cwmrheidol and this morning I found that the female Ring-Necked Duck was now on Cwmrheidol dam lake, in close company with 5 Tufted Ducks. 5 Goldeneyes were upstream towards the power station.
This afternoon, from Aber Clettwr, there were almost 1000 Oystercatchers on the Ceredigion side of the Dyfi estuary, an unusually high number.
