Aberystwyth

On a walk in and around Aberystwyth yesterday afternoon, there was a
female Black Redstart behind the Old college, 2 Purple Sandpipers on the
castle rocks, and a further 4 by the wooden jetty at the harbour mouth.
Plenty of Ringed Plover around the harbour, some Turnstone and Redshank
too along with several Common Gulls and lots of Rock Pippits. Walking
round to Tan y Bwlch produced 3 lone Redwings, and a Lapwing feeding on a
lawn by the Marina, and 2 Buzzards 'quartering' across Pendinas. In a
ditch behind Tan y Bwlch there were 3 male and 2 female Shoveller and 3
Teal. There was also a great number of Song Thrushes feeding in the fields
behind Tan y Blwch, and some hundreds of Lapwing flying out from inland
and South beyond the cliffs. There was a goose out to sea, unfortunately
unidentifiable as it took off and flew in to the sun rather quickly.

There was less about this afternoon - a dead, white goose (I think!) on
South beach, in front of the boat club, a Tufted Duck in the marina, and
two Goosander resting just upstream of the Trefechan bridge.
