New Year's Eve late posting

Pleasant and surpisingly profitable trip down the Clettwr yesterday afternoon, to end the old year. Usual 2 Dippers, but also a Green Sandpiper, a Water Pipit (at far end by the railway bridge) and 2 Little Egrets along the river. On the Lodge Farm fields: lots of Teal and Lapwing, Redshank, Snipe, 12 Black-tailed Godwits and a Ruff. A male Hen Harrier flew through - perhaps the one Bob couldn't find at Ynyslas? Also a second flying high westwards, and a Peregine spooking the Lapwing and Golden Plover from the distant fields towards Cors Fochno.

Phil - it's quite possible to take good digiscoping photos with a compact digital camera. I use a Canon Powershot A590, with a London Camera Exchange adaptor that cost £40 plus P&P, and works well. A useful source of info is: http://www.digiscoping.co.uk/. There's an article in November 09's Birdwatch magazine about DIY adaptors, which refers to a YouTube instruction video example(!) Happy New Year to all!
