Ynys-hir and The Clettwr
John and I met at Ynys-hir this morning. We made our way to the Breakwater Hide where we saw a total of c150 Barnacle Geese looking gorgeous in the bright sunlight. Some of them were in rafts so tightly packed together it looked as though you could have walked on them. There were also Pintail, Teal, Wigeon and Shoveler on the water and a single Pink-footed Goose amongst 100s of Canadas. Highlight of the morning though was an Otter that popped up right in front of the hide and ate its fishy lunch. After our lunch we went to the Clettwr where we saw several delightful birds including some Snipe, 2 Dippers, one of which was ringed, a Kingfisher, a Green Sandpiper and a male Hen Harrier.
