Went for a walk yesterday along the lower and upper roads between Llanddewi Brefi and Llanfair Clydogau. Quite a diverse bird life present and a count of 45 species was pretty good hereabouts. This inc. Grasshopper and Sedge Warbler, Common Whitethroat,Reed Bunting,Redpoll,Tree Pipit,Cuckoo and Kestrel.
I was interested to read that there were 25 Wheatears near Ynys Las yesterday, migrants perhaps on their way to Greenland?Scandinavia? I saw a group of 6 in a tight flock yesterday on the upper road and sometimes they perched together in the top of a small tree, which seemed slightly unusual behaviour and suggested to me that they were travelling companions rather than territorial competitors.
Just got back from work and after some uncertainty for a few days I've finally determined that a Great Tit is nesting in the post box at Abercerdin Mill. So will email the film company about it next. Also try and persuade my manager to temp. close the box to reduce disturbance and allow filming to proceed if it still sounds of interest to them.
