Birds at Ynys-hir

Nine of us turned up at 5:00 this morning to polish our bird song identification skills with Roy Bamford at Ynys-hir. We had some very obliging birds sing to us - Garden Warbler and Blackcap dueting so that we could compare their voices, and Sedge and Reed Warblers doing the same. Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Wood Warbler, Tree Creeper, Reed Bunting, Pied Flycatcher and Redstart also seen and heard.
On a later walk with some guests we were lucky enough to see a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in private grounds nearby. In the reserve we also heard but didn't see a Water Rail.
