Breeding success of Great Crested Grebes
A possible reason for the breeeding success of Great Crested Grebes on the Trisant lakes is that these lakes still have a good population of minnows, a reflection of their higher water quality. There has been a marked decline in the small fish stock of many of the local lakes associated with acid rainfall and the increase of forestry around these lakes eg Blaenmelindwr and Syfydrin.
