Cwm Carfan

Lies between Llanddewi and Tregaron. Discovered this morning that by hiking up the valley I was able to gain access to the open ground between here and Cwm Brefi which otherwise seems difficult to explore. Heard what was presumably the same Cuckoo as last week at Bryn Du where there was also a Crossbill. Singles of Pied Flycatcher,Whinchat and Grasshopper Warbler. Beautiful Green Hairstreak butterflies were feeding and fornicating in the heather. A brief, but not uneventful life evidently.
