I was up the Teifi Pools late this afternoon (Friday 7th) and spotted 8 wheatears, a pair of common sandpipers, 6 sky larks (but no stonechat!). It was about 6pm when a bird came flying in from the direction of Cors Caron, it looked 'straggly' and flying against a strong headwind. It saw me and banked left and dropped behind a ridge but I saw enough to see it was an osprey. I was at the furthest pool and quickly climbed the ridge but no view. I raced back to the car and drove around to the first llyn and as I was driving down I saw a 'T' shaped silhouette disappearing over another ridge back towards the bog, the osprey carrying a sizeable fish!
Also this morning, I was at Coed Dolgoed (between Bont & Strata Florida) and I saw a male whinchat, which I've seen most days in last week. 25+ nest boxes have been up 2 weeks and plenty of Pied Flycatchers have been around them. Also saw/heard: a cuckoo, 3 wood warblers, redstarts & blackcaps
