This morning I was lucky enough to see 3 cuckoos (2 male, 1 female) all together and only about 50 yards away. An amazing sound of traditional cuckooing, a stuttered cuckcuckoo and bubbling. It seemed that there was a pair with another acting as gooseberry.
Butterflies included Common Blue and my first Large Skipper and Meadow Browns of the year.
Settling down beside our stream I'm 90% sure that a Water Vole swam across (a first at Pontsaeson). A Spotted Flycatcher was making regular forays and a Broad Bodied Chaser was laying eggs.
All in all, a wonderful day.
