In May I mentioned that one of a wintering pair of Whooper Swans had remained behind while its mate had returned to Iceland. It made its way to a private pool and was being watched over by the owners. The other day they noticed it wandering over some nearby land and it was so weak that they were able to capture it very easily. Having already contacted a swan rescue organisation, the bird was collected and is being looked after. If I get any further news I will let everyone know.
