Butterflies and Dragonflies

I hope readers don’t mind us going on about insects but I’m afraid I agree with Liz, it’s a Black Darter, Red-veined would be very exciting.

I’ve had a Southern Hawker and a female Golden-ringed Dragonfly in my garden today. The Golden-ringed caught a wasp, ate its head, turned it round, then ate its abdomen and finished with its thorax discarding wings and legs on the way.

To cheer Tel up, Cors Caron has had excellent numbers of Large Heath on the bog, also for me, record numbers (over 100) of Ringlets and good numbers of Large and Small Skippers and SPB Fritillaries on the railway track, also first records on the track for 2 years of Speckled Wood and Common Blue.
