migration

Sulking about missing all those lovely waders on the coast, I took Toffy up to Mynydd Bach(TynyGraig) for a run in the rain. The 3 year old clear fell was a riot of colour with heather and gorse showing off and looks excellent habitat for Nightjars as their usual place looks too dense now the trees have grown;did anyone check this year?
Feeding by the hedge/wall on the south side was a whitethroat, 3 redstarts, willow warbler,2 willow tits, and a grey wagtail. Otherwise rather quiet as the rain suppressed activity.
A redstart was along the Cors Caron railway line yesterday and there is a steady passage of hirundines along the eastern escarpment together with willow/chiffs among groups of tits. Redpoll flocks of up to 20 birds are also active over the bog. Hobby seen perched over the oat field near the carved arch entrance.
