crossbill food
John, the BWP lists a huge number of trees and shrubs from which crossbills eat buds and seeds including ash. I have seen them eat putty! This is also documented as well as odd food stuffsincluding slugs and strange foraging locations such as seaweedy strandlines. BWPi is available from Birdguides as a disc making my books obsolete although I understand there is an update in preparation.
