Nesting Red Kites

For several weeks now there has been lots of low aerial displaying going on .So low that it is quite intimidating at times!
Setting up home is hard work and requires much vigilance.Today the male brought in a large clump of dry plant material to add to the accumulation of thin branches and sheeps wool. They abandoned the exposed nest last year possibly due to them being immature and / or owing to the cold wet and very windy weather which occurred prior to the canopy forming, which could have afforded them some protection. Some branches have been cut back recently which seems to help them access what was once a crows nest. The crows are resigned to their new neighbours after initially carrying out a protest!
