COLOUR-RINGED SANDWICH TERNS at YNYSLAS

Janet's Tern, which she photographed on 1st August (see below) had been ringed as a chick at the tern colony at Sands of Forvie NNR near Aberdeen, north-east Scotland in the summer of 2009.
The details of the one I saw and photographed on 3rd (see below) have also come back to me. That had been ringed at the same place in Scotland but as a chick on 24th June this year. Just 40 days later  it had flown south-west with at least one of its parents and had reached the Dyfi estuary on its way to the coast of west Africa.
