Great White Egret at Ynys-hir this afternoon

The Ceredigion Birding Group met at Ynyslas this morning. Even though the weather was a joy to be out in, birds were not conspicuous. We all enjoyed watching a flock of 60 or so Golden Plover and there were other odds and ends to keep our interest from completely expiring, but not a lot.
We changed location to have lunch at Ynys-hir in glorious sunshine in front of the visitor centre. After that we trooped along towards Marian Mawr Hide and, thank heavens, we started to get some good birds. Star turn was a beautiful Great White Egret which popped up in front of us in a perfect position for us all to get superb views of it. A ring-tailed Hen Harrier also entertained us, a Merlin put in an appearance and several Pintails were visible on the estuary. At Domen Las hide we saw a Common Sandpiper and 2 Kingfishers.

Wales was robbed!
