A coastal walk from Aberystwyth to Borth this afternoon (Friday 16th) was disappointing regarding seawatching just cormorants, 2 shelduck and 3 shags to report, but the walk was saved by the sighting of a 1st winter Iceland gull consorting with the herring gulls at Clarach beach, a flock of 7 choughs north of Clarach and 2 male wheatears close to the monument before you drop into Borth. Along the walk we had several stonechat pairs, and at Borth itself a porpoise was feeding close to shore in the southern end of the bay.
Female Black Redstart on old college, plus 7 ringed plover and 1 purple sandpiper at castle rocks.
