Ynys-hir

Yesterday on the flooded fields near the Breakwater hide there was a greenshank and a ruff feeding with the other waders and ducks there. This morning the ruff was still there and a spotted redshank had replaced the greenshank. These fields are looking good now with lapwing, curlew, dunlin, snipe and redshank along with mallard, teal, shoveler, pintail and wigeon. The Greenland white-fronted geese were on the edge of the salt marsh and a pink-footed goose was on the grassland with a minima Canada goose (these two have been seen intermittently on the reserve since 2007 and both are presumably escapes).
