Large numbers of wheatears on my BBS square above Tal-y-bont yesterday morning – by far the most I’ve ever seen there. They will almost certainly be passage birds. The grasshopper warbler is back, but no sign of whinchats yet.
Several dozen hirundines apparently feeding on insects low over Llyn Blaenmelindwr yesterday afternoon in the murk; they had gone 4 hours later. Mostly swallows, some house martins. Also a pair of tufted duck.

(Ian, that Lesser Whitethroat did not want me to see it either! Ditto the Iceland Gull at Aberystwyth, also yesterday, which Chris had seen some minutes earlier.)
