Nant y moch

The fine weather today provided an opportunity to take one of my seasonal trips around Nant y Moch this afternoon. Bird numbers in general were down compared with previous years, Skylarks amd Mippits were on the low side, Stonechat numbers were about the same as usual but, in spite of the large number which have been observed along the coast,  Wheatear numbers were very low.  A lone Great Crested Grebe was present on the Talybont arm of the reservoir. No Sandpipers were observed along the shoreline which I would normally expect at this time of year. The special of the day however was to hear four separate  Cuckoos and to actually see three of them. it was especially amusing to see two Mippits and a  Stonechat mobbing one of them.
