While walking the fields and woods above the creamery in Felinfach I heard a rather strangulated pheasant call. I pursued the sound and eventually glimpsed a very, very wary male Golden Pheasant creeping through the undergrowth in a steep wooded gully.
I have mislaid my Birds of Ceredigion (have I lent it to anybody out there?!) but I seem to recall that there have been no records of this species in the county, although there is a population in North Wales I know of (and perhaps elsewhere?).
I do seem to be on the way to becoming a regular contributor on oriental introductions. Apologies - to quote Private Eye, I really must get out more.
Male Blackcap quite vociferous along the hedge/ditch down from the house (Aberaeron). Female seen occasionally.
